RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR                                                          
The board of the company advises in terms of paragraph 3.59 of the JSE Listings 
Requirements, of the retirement of Albert Edward (Ed) Parfett as an independent 
non- executive director of the company with effect from the close of business on
17 May 2012.                                                                    
Mr Parfett has been a director of the company since 1988, and a non-executive   
director since 1995. His career with the Truworths International group commenced
in 1982 and included periods as managing director and as chairman.              
In announcing his retirement, the board paid tribute to his empowering          
leadership style, his highly respected retailing skills and his outstanding     
contribution to the success of the group`s business over a 30 year period.
